Other Releases

Magic Mixture vinyl release

This contained all the original tracks remastered at Abbey Road Studios, London. The cover had the original photo montage from the inside of the original release on the front, and the words on the back. It was in black and white. This was wrapped in an orange sleeve with a print of the original cover in black. There was a two sided sheet of information inside. Only 425 were made.

Kissing Spell CD release 1995

This contained all the original tracks plus the first versions of Grail Search, Essex Queen and part of Judy. The cover was poorly executed - in the wrong size - in a dullish reddy-brown, with a colour picture of Chris Coombs and Mike Levon on the inlay. The 'booklet' was a 6 page fold out sheet with the words and some original sketches from the first issue, again unfortunately badly reproduced by the printer.

ACME replica release 1995

Supplied in a mylar transparent sleeve, the cover was printed on bronze card, slightly lighter in colour than the original, and coated with a shinier surface. Inside were the words and a few black and white pictures. Mike's name as composer was misspelled 'Leon' throughout! The album comprised the original tracks.

RECOGNISING AN ORIGINAL

original cover

(this opened out into a gatefold)

How to tell if you have one of the original releases from 1970

The original cover was a plain white card sleeve. This may (or may not) have been glued to the white inside of a folded bronze card sheet. On the bronze side was a black screen print (you can feel the ridges). On the inside left side was a photo montage, printed with a very large dot size rendering the pictures hard to make out.

Inside was photocopied set of sheets, white, stapled together. Each song was written out in the author's own handwriting and signed. At the end was a printed list of who played on the album.

The original release number is on the top of the back cover
: HG 113. On the white label is another number "NSR 70 Mono", the number given by the transcription company. The date is given as "70. 4. 1. LP".
